: Indian National in Singapore Gets Jail Term for Fatal Accident
Singapore: An Indian national in Singapore, Sivalingam Suresh, has been sentenced to 10 months in jail for reckless driving that resulted in the death of a 79-year-old woman.
Suresh pleaded guilty to driving a lorry without due care, striking the woman on a zebra crossing, causing a fatal head injury. With a history of driving offenses, Suresh will be disqualified from driving for eight years after his release.
The Deputy Public Prosecutor highlighted Suresh’s previous driving violations and requested a 10 to 11-month jail term. Suresh expressed dependence on his job as the family’s breadwinner, supporting his wife and two-year-old son in India.
